Mod Pack FAQ

Why run your own pack?

As much as we like rolling with other packs, the issue we often run up against is either the pack is slanted heavily for a specific crowd (achievements/questing, magic, tech, etc) or is a literal kitchen sink (and therefor very disjointed, unbalanced, and tends to be a beast to run). We run our own pack that tries to balance what we’ve found players enjoy (a bit of magic, a bit of tech, a minor splash of OP stuff, lots of decorating/building blocks) as well as run on a broader range of computer setups.

What is in FrogTEK and what does it do?

This is a long list, brace yourself. Where practical I’ve linked to their project page.

  • Actually Addons – Machines, handy devices, plants, and so much more. I really can’t list everything it does here.
  • AutoRegMod – If you don’t make mods, don’t worry. It does some of the repetitive tedium work like registering items/blocks/etc.
  • B.A.S.E. – Needed for Substratum, nice little core mod.
  • Baubles – Needed for Thaumcraft and Botania; adds extra slots for wearing things.
  • Bed Bugs – No more having to figure how to kick yourself; offers players a way to get out of bed on MP servers if they get stuck.
  • Biomes O’Plenty – No more are we constrained to 40 biomes… wait is that right? Wow, really?! Well, we have more than 40 biomes now. Suck it nature.
  • Blood Magic – It’s not a game until players voluntarily exsanguinate themselves in the name of cursed power. It’s really not a game until those consequences come back with big boots and an attitude.
  • Bookshelf – A core mod for other mods to more easily interact with books.
  • Botania – Better living and working through flower power. Literal flower power. Oh, and angry gods.
  • Chameleon – I am not breaking out in Karma Chameleon. Sorry. This is a core mod for rendering and shared code.
  • Chickens – Normally you have to go the Tijuana to see the chicken show where the chicken drops sand, flint, glass, even diamonds.
  • Chisel – More blocks from the blocks already in the game. Build an all oak wood structure with nuance!
  • Chisels & Bits – Microblocks! Make custom shaped blocks with blocks by using a chisel.
  • Clumps – Groups up XP drops. ‘Lo, did the tick rate and FPS rejoice.
  • Colossal Chests – If a 2×1 chest holds double the items of a 1×1 chest, how much does a 3 x 3 x 3 chest hold? I really want to know!
  • CompatLayer – Core mod to ease compatibility for mods between 1.10.2 and 1.11.
  • Cooking for Blockheads – Kitchens! Stoves! Cows… in Jars?!?
  • CraftTweaker – Allows pack curators to muck with recipes and such. Continuation of MineTweaker.
  • Cyclops Core – Guards the core mod. Wait, no. Core mod that guards Colossal Chests. Wait… bah, whatever.
  • Custom Main Menu – Makes the main menu all fancy and not default MineCraft.
  • Dark Utilities – Vector plates to move things around, Null Rings to avoid picking up anymore !@#$%^&* cobble, Ender Hopper for server safe machine setups, and more.
  • Default Options – Allows us to set default options including keybindings and saved servers. You’re welc… wait, you liked Auto GUI? Get out.
  • Drawers & Bits – Drawers for your bits. Stop giggling.
  • ElecCore – Core mod for shared rendering libraries for some mods.
  • EnderIO – Power, conduit, covers, and more!
  • Ender Core – Core mod for EnderIO and other mods in the Ender line.
  • Environmental Tech – Technology that uses the environment. Mid to late game, have fun.
  • Extra Bit Manipulation – Some extra tools to manipulate your bits. WHY ARE YOU STILL GIGGLING!?
  • Extra Utilities – Angel ring and other useful blocks/items.
  • Fairly Lights – Hanging light strings that don’t emit lights and are not placed by fairies. So there’s that.
  • Fast Leaf Decay – Cut down that tree aaaaand it’s gone.
  • FTBLib – Core mod library for FTB mods and utilities.
  • FTB Utilities – Teams, ranks (with permissions), chunk claiming, and other useful utilities.
  • Gravestone Mod – Oops you did it again, fought a skeleton with no sword. This grave will store your stuff.
  • Guide-API – API for writing in-game guides.
  • Hatchery – Chicken wrangling for the avid chicken farmer.
  • Headcrumbs – Ever wanted to be chased at night by dinnerbone, Direwolf20, and vazkii? No? Too bad.
  • HWYLA – Continuation of WAILA.
  • Inventory Sorter – Automagically sort your inventory.
  • Iron Chests – To use the Iron Chest one must pay the Iron Price. It’s about 8 ingots.
  • Journey Maps – Half the journey is getting there. The other twice as long part is getting back…
  • Just Enough Items – We have enough now. Just enough. Now show us how to get them.
  • Just Enough Resources – So you can see just enough stuff is dropping and how to fail at getting it.
  • Light Level Overlay Reloaded – If you see numbers appear on the ground that tell you how bright it is, you’re either using this in Minecraft or eating powdered gravy.
  • Mantle – Core mod for shared code in mods (sorry, I had no joke here).
  • McJtyLib – Core mod for shared code in McJty’s mods (Deep Resonance, RFTools).
  • MCMultiPart – Breaking things into small pieces of itself? Either you’re a wizard Harry, or you’re using MCMultiPart.
  • More Chickens – That’s right, more chickens. Now they outnumber us… and they vote. Uh oh.
  • Morpheus – Allows the sleep cycle to commence based on how many players are online and how many are sleeping. Democracy!
  • Not Enough Wands – Seems strange, we have just enough items but not enough wands. Strange.
  • Pam’s HarvestCraft – Now featuring all the food stuffs and then some. Trees that bear fruit, vegan alternatives, and more.
  • Platforms – Rebuild the glory and death-defying wonder of wooden rollercoasters! Or, you know, live and make them out of iron. Whatever.
  • Quark – Small vanilla enhancements, that’s all
  • Reborn Core – Core mod to allow the reborn to walk… no? I need to start reading the notes more often….
  • RebornStorage – Enhanced crafting and storage options for Refined Storage.
  • Refined Storage – Store your items on the grid, as many a refined person does.
  • Resource Loader – Allows adding new resources (skins) to Minecraft without making a whole Resource Pack.
  • RFTools – Redstone Flux, power for a power hungry vacuum of empty eyed Steves… just punching away at trees…. how sad.
  • RFTools Control – Exert control over RF with various logic gates and automation controls.
  • RFTools Dimensions – Power your car with a whole dimension that’s sole purpose is to power your car. Just be careful they don’t create their own sub-dimension to power themselves and leave you stranded in the parking lot instead of at the ice cream parlor eating the best ice cream in any dimension.
  • ShetiPanCore – Core mode for Platforms. I don’t have a joke here, go away.
  • Storage Drawers – Who needs those dimensions and S&M dimensions and what not. We have drawers. We have drawers that control other drawers. We have drawers that compact, break up, and make new things in the drawer.
  • Substratum – Add all the ores.
  • Tinkers Construct – Ah, the perennial favorite.  Craft and customize, customize and craft.
  • Tinker’s Golem Addon – Adds golems made of TiC metals… because you have spare blocks of Manyullun. One percenter.
  • ValkyrieLib – Library for the mighty Valkyrie of the Night, whom promote technologies of the environment.
  • WAILA Harvestability – Can I break it? Will it break me?!
  • WAWLA – Do any of you know what we are looking at?! What is so important?! AAAAAAAAAAH!
  • WitherCrumbs – What’s worse than being chased by zombie celebrities? Being chased by three-headed angry fireball shooting celebrities. You’re welcome.
