java.net.SocketTimeoutException is not a crash, it’s when the client fails to receive data from the server after a certain period of time. 99.999998% of the time it’s either an issue with the server (lagged/crashed), the pipes between you and the server (more on that in a bit), or your own internet connection. It happens.
We’ve traced most of these timeouts to general issues Amazon had with their AWS EC2 service on Sunday (which was also why Mojang’s session servers were down). They appear to have stabilized. Other possible offenders include MPS (sending lots of data…. weird since NO ONE HAS A SUIT! and Project: REd (lots of data as well).
The last crash was me derping around with chest upgrades. Whoops.
