Rumblings of Life 9


So, after sampling some packs and playing with various things we began work on updating the pack. Progress is already looking good (early incompatibilities were easy to discover and remove for once) and although frame rate could be higher we have an initial list of mods ready (that was fast). As always, nothing is in stone (we are pretty epic when it comes to removing/adding stuff during release) but it should give everyone a taste of the direction we’re going (or staying in).

Look, the title screen isn’t so ugly!

It seems like a lot (it was 95 mods loaded, 94 files… count may have changed) but memory footprint is pretty nice at the moment. Mods marked with an asterisk (Chicken Chunks) are very much on the fence (we’ve had issues with it before, but that was with a Bukkit-based server), mods marked with two asterisks will be optional (they will be on the server but are not required for the client).

We are looking into why the FPS seems lower than it should (idle outside with no buildings/mobs is standing around 30 fps; this should be much higher).

At this point, the only mod suggestions we’re not really entertaining are RailCraft (restrictive as heck licensing as well as strange load errors), Funky Locomotion (casual estimate to server death is hours, minutes if some of you team together), GalactiCraft (we have no real way to manage dimension/world loading), Twilight Forest (resource beast, both server and client), and Mystcraft (same as GalactiCraft…).

    Looking pretty nice, fellas. I know you’re going to say no… But.. Chisel? If we can? Please? ;). Either way, i appreciate the effort as always!

      I’m looking to see if I can find asie’s update of Chisel. I liked it as well and with the INPureCore mod, NEI gets cleaned up so it shouldn’t be as much of an issue….

      You know… I always enjoyed the Forestry/Bee stuff.

      I’ll try adding Forestry, Binnie’s Mods (Extra Bees, Extra Trees, Etc), and Gendustry and see how everything runs. Magic Bees is no longer maintained and I definitely do not have the time to copy the source and tinker with it.

        Yay! I’m OK with not having magic bees. I never seem to get that far with thaumcraft and such anyway. But I like to tinker and try. 🙂

          I’m taking a stab at the magic bees anyway. I may end up disabling a few of the “cooler” things in the mod (like the Bee Jar) but species and their drops should be fine.

    Any chance of getting Mekanism? It’s the one tech mod that actually makes sense. I’m assuming there’s some sort of issue with it since we haven’t had it for quite a while, but if it’s functional Skategirl701 and I would love having mekanism again!

      I’ll look into it.

      It got dropped last time because changes the author made to the mod would keep breaking other things. It wasn’t their fault, however, they would get very ambitious about adding stuff and forget to either fix or make sure the added stuff didn’t blow something else up.
